Job summary

RES is hiring for a field equipment operator in Texas. The role involves safely performing civil and electrical duties on site while adhering to OSHA procedures for heavy and light equipment.

You will operate backhoes, loaders, rollers, rock trucks, cranes, excavators, dozers and forklifts as needed for crane erection and site tasks. The candidate should have construction experience, on-site certification, and familiarity with maintaining and inspecting equipment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in construction field; roles include operating heavy/light equipment.
  • Certifications on-site for equipment must be presented to Superintendent.
  • CDL and CCO certifications are a plus and travel may be required.

Summary
  • Responsible for safely and efficiently performing Civil/Electrical duties at the project site.
  • Follows OSHA safety and operating procedures of heavy and light equipment.
  • Operates light/heavy equipment including, but not limited to: backhoe, loader, roller and rock truck; blade, excavator, dozer, forklift for crane erection.
  • Inspects incoming and outgoing loads, performs all pre‑inspection checks and monitors equipment during operation.
  • Reports results from pre‑inspections on equipment daily, hours usage, fuel usage, deficiencies and/or maintenance required.
  • Performs work on various types of terrain (A/T and R/T), evaluating requirements for assigned work.
  • Maintains job site and materials in an organized and efficient order.
  • Maintains all mobile and stationary equipment by performing preventive maintenance, tightening, cleaning, greasing and other minor maintenance and repairs; notifies supervisor for refueling and management of malfunctions.
  • Climbs into heavy equipment using attached ladders.
  • Cleans interior cab area of equipment daily.
  • Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas as stated by OSHA.
  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action.
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.

Qualifications
  • Experience working in a construction field, experience levels are progressive:
  • Level I: 0-2 years experience with backhoe, loader, roller and rock truck.
  • Level II: 0-3 years experience with blade, excavator and dozer in addition to level I equipment.
  • Level III: 1-3 years experience with trencher and up to 130 ton crane/crawler R/T (rough terrain) and less than 250T crane/crawler or A/T (all terrain) in addition to levels I and II equipment.
  • Level IV: 4+ years experience with 250 Ton crane/crawler or A/T (all terrain) in addition to levels I, II and III equipment.
  • Must be certified on site for all types of heavy/light equipment by displaying skill level to a Superintendent.
  • Crane Operators require CCO certification, must present certification card.
  • CDL certifications are a plus for A/T cranes.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home as required.

Anticipated base salary range: $27/hr - $30/hr. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience and work location. This position is bonus eligible.

  • Frequently: Standing and walking is required.
  • Constantly: Reading, vision, repetitive motions, and sitting are required.
  • Exposed to occasional extreme cold, extreme heat, humidity, wet, noise, hazards and vibration in the working environment.
