Job summary

The Department of Public Safety in Baton Rouge is seeking an Auditor to join the Gaming Audit Section, auditing the gaming industry for compliance with statutes, regulations and internal controls to ensure integrity of gaming operations. Responsibilities

• Compiles work papers detailing the licensee's internal controls and audit evidence.
• Audits gaming schematics and revenue processes to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Audits manufacturers, suppliers, casinos, fantasy sports, sportsbooks and internal controls for statutory compliance.
• Interacts with casino representatives to obtain information and convey division policies.
• Plans and schedules audits to maximize resource efficiency.
• Determines licensee compliance with Administrative Rules, statutes, and accounting procedures.

Job description

We're looking for an Auditor to join our Audit and Technical Section—a professional, progressive team working to attract and support the talent that drives our mission forward. The auditor plays a key role in auditing the gaming industry for compliance with statutes and gaming regulations to ensure the integrity of the Louisiana gaming industry. Our audit staff works closely with our technical staff, the Enforcement Section, and the Licensing Section to ensure the suitability and the integrity of all gaming operations and activities.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in accounting or auditing; OR
• Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in one or a combination of the following: accounting, auditing, business, finance, management, economics, quantitative methods, or information systems; OR
• A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in one or a combination of the following: accounting, auditing, business, finance, management, economics, quantitative methods, or information systems; OR
• A bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, finance, business administration, management, economics, information systems, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR
• A bachelor's degree plus a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Government Audit Professional (CGAP) designation; OR
• An advanced degree in accounting, auditing, finance, business administration, management, economics, information systems, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR
• A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation.
• EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties

• Compiles work papers, which consist of the auditor's understanding of the licensee's internal controls to the details that document the audit process and the information obtained.
• Audits schematics for gaming chips, tokens, table layouts, dice and playing cards to ensure specifications comply with Louisiana Administrative Code, Louisiana Revised Statutes and Internal Controls. Approves artwork, manufacturing and shipping requests submitted to the Division from vendors.
• Performs audits of manufacturers, suppliers, casinos, fantasy sports, sportsbooks and internal controls to ascertain that all statutes and regulatory requirements concerning casino revenue recognition, accounting and cash controls, and various other conditions are met.
• Interact with casino representatives and personnel to obtain necessary information to conduct audits and to inform and/or instruct these persons of Division policies.
• Plan and schedule work in accordance with established priorities to maximize efficient use of resources.
• Determines if licensees are in compliance with Administrative Rules and Regulations, the Louisiana Statutes and their accounting procedures and controls.

Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday-Friday

Location: This vacancy is located in the Gaming Audit Section in the Office of State Police, located in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Career Progression: This position may be filled as an Auditor 1, 2, or 3.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
