Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking an Auditing Internship at our Corporate Office in West Des Moines, Iowa. The internship runs mid-May through mid-August 2027, is paid, and will be 40 hours per week Monday through Friday with occasional overtime.

You will assist with financial, operational and compliance audits across corporate offices, subsidiaries and retail locations, help present audit findings to management, and build foundational knowledge of GAAP, internal controls and accounting practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; pursuing bachelor's or master's in accounting.
• Minimum of two years of relevant college education.
• Working toward a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting.
• Basic understanding of GAAP.
• Detail-oriented with accuracy.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist with auditing procedures and test of transactions in cash disbursements, cash receipts, payroll, benefits, and 401(k).
• Support financial, operational and compliance audits of the corporate office, subsidiaries and retail locations.
• Present and review audit findings with management.
• Attend monthly Accounting Department Meetings.
• Work with upper-level accounting staff on audits.
• Support internal control reviews and ad hoc projects.
