Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking an Accounting II Intern for its Corporate Office in West Des Moines, IA. The role provides hands-on experience with general ledger reconciliations, accruals, trial balance maintenance, and month-end close support.

The internship runs mid-May through mid-August 2027, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week, with potential overtime and holiday time off. Flexibility in scheduling is offered to support study commitments.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an accounting degree (bachelor’s or master’s) preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in accounting helpful.
• Knowledge of GAAP and attention to detail essential.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside upper level accounting staff.
• Assist in monthly accounting close, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Collect and analyze data for accruals and management reporting.
• Respond to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data.
• Recommend improvements to accounting and control procedures.
• Conduct ad-hoc analyses and project work as assigned.
• Attend monthly Accounting Department Meetings.
