WithumSmith+Brown, PC in New York City seeks a Real Estate Audit Supervisor to lead planning and execution of audits for REITs, developers, and property managers. You will supervise staff, build client relationships, and guide teams through complex US GAAP requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• CPA or CPA-eligible status required or in process.
• At least 4 years of public accounting experience with leadership of multiple engagements.
• Experience auditing real estate or related entities; familiarity with US GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Lead engagement teams in planning, execution, and review of audits, reviews, and compilations for real estate clients.
• Supervise staff, mentor juniors, and maintain client relationships with seniority and professionalism.
• Collaborate with managers and partners on issue resolution and technical accounting guidance.
• Review general ledger and financial statements for accuracy and compliance.
• Manage multiple engagements and budgets, and contribute to staff development and training.

You'll work alongside an integrated team of seasoned, well-known CPAs and industry leaders. But our commitment goes beyond our clients as we continue to live the Withum Way, promoting personal and professional growth for all team members, clients, and surrounding communities.How You’ll Spend Your Time:Leading the engagement team on the planning and execution of audits, reviews, and compilations for real estate clients including REITs, developers, real estate funds and property managersOverseeing the day-to-day operations of the audit engagement from staffing, planning, risk assessment, fieldwork and reportingProviding supervision and support to the engagement staff and promote open communication to the engagement manager and partnerCollaborating with managers and partners on client issue resolution and make recommendations for any legal, regulatory and accounting issues that arise during an audit engagementReviewing general ledger accounts and financial statements for reliability and complianceManaging multiple engagements concurrently with various teamsCreating and tracking engagement budgets to review for inefficiencies that may arise during the auditConducting constructive discussions with team members on their evaluations and providing counsel accordinglyServing in professional development programs as an instructor or discussion leaderThe Kinds of People We Want to Talk to Have Many of The Following:Bachelor's degree in accounting or financeCPA or CPA eligibleAt least 4 years of public accounting experience, with experience leading multiple engagements and supervising staffExperience auditing real estate or related organizationsExcellent analytical, technical, and auditing skills including familiarity with US GAAP due to the complexity of the engagements in this sectorExceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationshipsStrong leadership, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to represent the Firm well to client’s managementExcellent analytical, organizational, project management skills, strong attention to detail, and proven innovative problem-solving skillThe compensation for this position ranges from $90,000-$165,000. In addition to the base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance. Final offer amounts are based on multiple factors such as the specific role, hiring location, as well as the individual’s skills, experience and qualifications.
