Job summary

WithumSmith+Brown, based in Houston, TX, is seeking an Audit Associate to join a team of seasoned CPAs and industry leaders. You will analyze client accounting records and financial statements, and contribute to audit engagements across various industries.

This role supports growth toward Partnership with opportunities to build client relationships while adhering to GAAS standards and delivering high-quality work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
• Licensed CPA or working towards CPA certification.
• At least 1 year of prior experience working in the audit department of a public accounting firm.
• Strong analytical, technical audit, organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements in a rapidly growing, fast-paced team environment.
• Travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing and reviewing client accounting records and financial statements.
• Evaluating internal accounting control systems, audit risk, materiality and compliance with GAAS via inquiry, observation and review.
• Creating detailed workpapers that support the accounting work being done.
• Working on portions of larger audit engagements.
• Collaborating with engagement team seniors or supervisors and partners on client issue resolutions.
• Proofreading to become familiar with a wide range of reports.
• Assuming full responsibility on smaller accounting engagements as proficiency increases.
