The role focuses on running engagements, mentoring staff, and serving as a trusted client contact.

You will oversee nonprofit, real estate, manufacturing, and construction audits, reviews, and compilations, while staying current on GAAP, SAS, and GAGAS.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of public accounting with an assurance focus.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Strong technical knowledge across audit, review, and compilation engagements.
• Willingness to manage and develop a team.
• Excellent client-facing communication skills.
• Experience at a mid- to large-size firm.

Responsibilities

OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW

Agresta, Storms & O’Leary, PC (ASO) is a full-service accounting firm with offices across central and southern Indiana and approximately 40 full-time professionals. The firm provides assurance, tax, business consulting, and entrepreneurial accounting services to a diverse client base that includes closely held and entrepreneurial businesses, nonprofits, government-regulated entities, manufacturers, construction firms, service organizations, and individuals. ASO is hiring an Audit Senior Associate to join its assurance practice. This role is built for an experienced assurance professional who is ready to run engagements, lead and develop a small team, and serve as a trusted point of contact for clients across a diverse mix of industries.

WORK ARRANGEMENT

This role is in-office in one of our 6 locations in the Greater Indianapolis area. The firm’s leadership values a collaborative, in-person culture while recognizing that top performers benefit from the latitude to manage their schedules around client needs and personal commitments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee a broad range of assurance engagements for nonprofit, real estate, manufacturing, and construction clients
• Prepare and perform detail review of audits, compilations, and review engagements in accordance with firm policies, procedures, and quality standards
• Review accounting data and financial statements while managing to engagement budgets and guidelines
• Identify and research assurance-related questions, including opportunities to improve workflow efficiency
• Serve as a primary client contact, maintaining direct communication and building trusted relationships
• Supervise, train, and mentor 2 to 3 direct reports, including staff and interns
• Stay current on GAAP, SAS, and GAGAS changes and assess their impact on client engagements
• Assist team members with client management by gathering assurance information, researching issues, and recommending business and process improvements
• Collaborate with firm leadership on engagement execution, process improvement, and maintaining the firm’s reputation for technical excellence

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of public accounting experience with an assurance background
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Strong technical knowledge across audit, review, and compilation engagements
• Willingness to manage and develop a team
• Excellent client-facing communication skills
• Prior experience at a firm of meaningful scale and complexity

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• CPA license
• Experience with CCH Engagement, or a demonstrated ability to learn new platforms quickly

COMPENSATION & HOURS

Compensation is commensurate with experience, qualifications, and the value the candidate brings to the practice. The firm offers a competitive base salary, performance-based bonus structure, employer 401(k) match, and comprehensive benefits. Full details will be discussed during the interview process.

Expected hours include a 55-hour work week during busy season and a 40-hour work week during the offseason.
