Qualifications

• Willingness to travel to client sites across Indiana.

Responsibilities

• Perform audit, review, and compilation procedures for nonprofit, real estate, manufacturing, and construction clients under supervision.

• Gather, organize, and analyze client data including reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Assist with financial statements and footnote disclosures.
• Participate in fieldwork at client sites and observe internal controls.
• Identify issues and communicate findings with documentation.
• Build proficiency in audit software and GAAP fundamentals.
• Pursue CPA licensure and develop technical depth.

OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW

Agresta, Storms & O’Leary, PC (ASO) is a full-service accounting firm with offices across central and southern Indiana and approximately 40 full-time professionals. The firm provides assurance, tax, business consulting, and entrepreneurial accounting services to a diverse client base that includes closely held and entrepreneurial businesses, nonprofits, government-regulated entities, manufacturers, construction firms, service organizations, and individuals. ASO is hiring Audit Associates to join its assurance practice. This role is built for early-career accounting professionals who want hands-on audit experience across a wide range of industries, meaningful client exposure, and a clear runway for advancement within a firm that invests in developing its people.

WORK ARRANGEMENT

This role is in-office in one of our 6 locations through the Greater Indianapolis area, with time at client sites as engagements require. Associates benefit from working alongside experienced professionals in person, which accelerates learning, mentorship, and integration into the firm’s culture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform audit, review, and compilation procedures for nonprofit, real estate, manufacturing, and construction clients under the supervision of seniors and managers
• Prepare workpapers, test account balances and transactions, and document procedures in line with firm policies and quality standards
• Gather, organize, and analyze client data, including reconciliations, fixed asset rollforwards, and supporting schedules
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements and footnote disclosures
• Participate in fieldwork at client sites, including inventory observations and internal control walkthroughs
• Identify issues during fieldwork and bring them to the engagement team with supporting documentation
• Communicate with clients on routine matters, including document requests and follow-up questions, with appropriate supervision
• Build proficiency in firm audit software, workpaper standards, and GAAP fundamentals
• Take ownership of professional development by pursuing CPA licensure and building technical depth

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 1 to 2+ years of public accounting experience
• CPA eligible, with a clear plan and commitment to sit for and pass the exam
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a willingness to ask questions
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general comfort learning new software platforms
• Willingness to travel to client sites across Indiana as engagements require

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Exposure to CCH Engagement or similar audit software
• Coursework in auditing, governmental, or nonprofit accounting
• 150 credit hours completed or in progress

COMPENSATION & HOURS

Compensation is commensurate with experience, qualifications, and educational background. The firm offers a competitive base salary, performance-based bonus structure, employer 401(k) match, and comprehensive benefits. Full details will be discussed during the interview process.

Expected hours include a 55-hour work week during busy season and a 40-hour work week during the offseason.
