Job summary

National Life Group in Montpelier, VT, seeks interns for the Internal Audit team. This 10-week paid internship offers hands-on experience across accounting, audit, IT, and life insurance, with four onsite core days per week (Mon–Thu). The program emphasizes risk assessment, controls testing, and collaboration across departments.

Base pay is provided hourly, with ranges $19–$28 per hour. The internship includes mentorship, networking, and development opportunities within a national life insurer.

Responsibilities

• Analytical Thinking & Risk Awareness: Support audit planning, risk assessment, and testing activities by reviewing business processes and financial or operational information, identifying key risks and controls, examining supporting documentation, documenting procedures and results accurately, and escalating potential inconsistencies or issues.
• Communication & Collaboration: Collaborate with Internal Audit team members and business partners to gather information, understand processes, ask thoughtful questions, communicate status updates, and build effective working relationships across the organization.
• Professionalism & Attention to Detail: Prepare clear, organized audit summaries that are accurate, complete, timely, and handled in accordance with confidentiality and professional standards.
• Curiosity, Adaptability & Accountability: Plan and prioritize assigned work, meet established deadlines, follow through on commitments, adjust effectively as priorities change, and build knowledge of audit concepts and NLG business processes through training, feedback, and hands‑on experience.
