Job summary

Sensiba LLP is seeking an experienced Private Equity Audit Partner to lead and expand our alternative investment audit practice in the United States.

You will guide complex private equity fund audits, advise on fund economics and valuation methodologies, and mentor a growing team across audit, tax, and advisory services. Leadership and client-relations excellence are essential for success.

Description

We are seeking an experienced Private Equity Audit Partner to lead and expand our alternative investment audit practice. This individual will bring deep expertise in private equity fund audits and serve as a strategic leader responsible for client service, business development, and team growth. The ideal candidate is a recognized technical expert in private equity fund structures and investment company accounting, with a proven track record of leading complex audits, advising fund managers, and cultivating long-term relationships with General Partners (GPs), CFOs, administrators, and other industry stakeholders. This role will play a critical part in expanding the firm’s presence in the alternative asset space by helping build a scalable private equity practice while collaborating across audit, tax, and advisory service lines.

Key Responsibilities
Private Equity Audit Leadership
  • Lead complex private equity fund audits including multi-tier structures, SPVs, co-investment vehicles, and management companies.
  • Provide technical leadership in investment company accounting, fair value measurements, and fund economics.
  • Oversee audit engagements from planning through completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables and regulatory compliance.
  • Advise clients on valuation methodologies, fund structures, and accounting implications of investment transactions.
Technical Expertise & Quality Oversight
  • Maintain deep knowledge of GAAP, investment company accounting, and alternative asset fund reporting.
  • Provide guidance on:
    • Fair value measurements (ASC 820)
    • Capital account mechanics including waterfall allocations and carried interest
    • Management fee and expense structures
  • Support the development of internal technical expertise and mentor team members on complex valuation and audit topics.
Practice Growth & Business Development
  • Lead strategic initiatives to grow the private equity audit practice.
  • Transition and manage an existing book of business while cultivating new client relationships.
  • Develop relationships with fund managers, institutional investors, fund administrators, legal counsel, and valuation specialists.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to cross-sell services across tax and advisory practices.
Client Relationship Management
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to General Partners, CFOs, and fund leadership teams.
  • Provide proactive insight into accounting developments, fund operations, and industry trends.
  • Strengthen the firm’s position as a trusted partner across the entire fund lifecycle.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Experience recruiting, developing, and mentoring a dedicated private equity fund audit team.
  • Foster a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture focused on excellence and innovation.
  • Support career development pathways for audit professionals interested in alternative investments.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10–20+ years of experience in public accounting with a focus on private equity or alternative investment funds.
  • CPA License required.
  • Significant experience leading complex private equity fund audits.
  • Demonstrated experience managing senior client relationships and engagement teams.
  • Deep technical expertise in private equity fund audits and alternative investment structures.
  • Strong understanding of fair value frameworks, valuation methodologies, and investment accounting.
  • Proven leadership capabilities with the ability to build and scale a practice area.
  • Excellent client relationship management and advisory skills.
  • Strong business development and networking abilities.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial firm environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex accounting concepts into clear business insights.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to partner across service lines.
  • Experience building or expanding a private equity or alternative investments practice.
  • Experience transitioning or managing a portable book of business.
  • Prior leadership experience at the Partner or Managing Director level.
Compensation & Benefits

This role offers a competitive base salary along with a comprehensive benefits package. Salary ranges for U.S.-based positions are determined by geographic location and fall into one of three pay zones, which reflect the cost of labor in that area. The anticipated salary ranges for this position are outlined below and are subject to change:

Compensation & Partnership Structure:
  • Base compensation: $300,000–$500,000+ annually
  • Revenue-based incentive compensation tied to individual and firm performance
  • Candidates who bring an established book of business will be considered for Equity Partner designation
