Audit Manager

RSM is looking for a Manager to join our assurance Life Sciences practice. As a team member of the Life Sciences practice, you will be provided with opportunities to work on projects in RSM offices in biotech hubs across the country. You will also get exposure to various types of entities within the industry, ranging from companies in the clinical R&D phase to large public biopharma’s. Common accounting areas encountered in the industry include collaboration and licensing arrangements, complex debt and equity transactions and internal controls over financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations including coordinating the auditing of all required financial statements, related disclosures, and other client deliverables.
  2. Participate in public market transactions such as Form S-1, Form S-3, Form F-4, etc.
  3. Assess risk along with design and communicate audit procedures to engagement teams.
  4. Understand and utilize RSM’s Global Audit Methodology.
  5. Manage multiple engagement teams and prepare end-of-engagement evaluations for staff.
  6. Understand skillsets and capabilities of Senior Associates and Supervisors and monitor and review work product that they prepare and report on performance while articulating coaching notes throughout the process.
  7. Identify technical accounting matters early and assess impact on financial statements; coordinate with firm specialists as needed.
  8. Supervise Audit Seniors and Supervisors on engagement teams and facilitate field work by monitoring and reporting regarding productivity and adherence to work plan schedules on each assignment.
  9. Maintain contact with clients throughout the year to understand impact of significant developments in client’s business and assess impact on current year audit engagements.
  10. Develop others within the Firm through facilitating levels based or industry training, advising on career development or participating in other Firm initiatives.
  11. Subscribe to and actively read industry publications and share relevant information with clients as considered applicable.
  12. Anticipate and address client concerns and escalate issues as they arise.
  13. Understand RSM’s lines of businesses, availability of services and where applicable, discuss with client management of opportunities to make valuable introductions to others in the firm.
  14. Develop a strategy to utilize relationships external to the firm with different types of Centers of Influence to effectuate business growth.
  15. Manage profitability of projects.
  16. Ensure professional development through ongoing education.
  17. Keep abreast of latest developments as they affect GAAP, SEC reporting, and the Firm’s standards and policies.
  18. Willingness to travel 25% of the year, depending on your clients.

Required Qualifications:

  1. BS/BA Degree in Accounting or equivalent degree.
  2. CPA or CA Certification.
  3. 5+ years of current or recent experience in a public accounting environment.
  4. Experience leading teams and mentoring associates.
  5. Understanding of audit services with knowledge of GAAP, GAAS and FASB regulations.
  6. A proven record of building profitable, sustainable client relationships.
  7. Minimum of 4 years of team lead or in-charge experience overseeing staff on multiple engagements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience auditing life science companies and related organizations.
  2. A successful record of directing and deploying staff and senior associates on multiple, simultaneous engagement.
  3. Understanding of audit services with knowledge of SEC and PCAOB regulations.

Compensation Range: $74,900 - $141,900

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
