Job summary

Joseph Michaels International seeks an Audit Director with specialized state and local government audit expertise. The role leads engagements, mentors staff, and collaborates with partners to grow the practice while maintaining strong client relationships.

The position offers a hybrid work environment, travel as needed, and a fast track toward partnership, with relocation assistance available to support candidate placement.

Qualifications

• Approx. 10 years of public accounting experience with 2+ years in a senior manager role.
• Significant public sector audit experience including state and local governments.
• CPA licensed and in good standing.
• Ability to travel to client sites and firm offices.
• Proven track record in securing new business for the firm.
• Experience with GAGAS/Yellow Book, GAAS and the Uniform Guidance.
• Experience directing, reviewing and training staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead as liaison between Partner, client, and staff; oversee multiple engagements.
• Sign attest opinions when assigned as engagement partner and ensure quality deliverables.
• manage engagement workflows, scheduling, and staffing across projects.
• develop staff and contribute to staff performance evaluations.
• participate in business development and client relationship building.
• maintain compliance with firm policies and procedures; oversee billing collections.
• drive not-for-profit audits where applicable and ensure risk controls.
