Progressive Regional CPA Firm is seeking aDirector of Audit with State and Local Government specialization. The role offers a fast track to partnership in a hybrid work environment with relocation assistance.

The Director serves as liaison among partners, clients and staff, manages multiple audits, and develops staff while pursuing new business opportunities. Travel to client sites is required as needed.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years' experience in public accounting and a minimum of 2 years in a senior manager position with significant public sector experience auditing state and local governments.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA license is required.
• Ability to travel to client and firm locations.
• Proven ability to bring in new business to a CPA Firm.
• Experience conducting audits in accordance with GAAS, Yellow Book (GAGAS), and the Uniform Guidance.

Responsibilities

• Maintains contact with clients throughout the year; builds and maintains strong client relationships.
• Either serves as engagement partner or reports directly to the engagement partner on engagements.
• Signs attest opinions as engagement partner when assigned.
• Oversees all phases of engagement delivery and ensures compliance with applicable frameworks and firm policy.
• Updates the partner on important client developments and resolves issues with partner input.
• Ensures engagements are properly scheduled and staffed.
• Acts as a subject matter expert for governmental sector engagements.
• Oversees billing and collections according to firm policy.
• Supervises staff and provides on-the-job training; reviews work papers and reports.
• Plays a pivotal role in staff performance evaluations and counseling.
• Involved in recruiting Assurance and Advisory candidates when needed.
• Leads business development by building a network of contacts and referrals.
• Leads initial communications with prospective clients, generates fee estimates, and attends meetings.
• Maintains compliance with all Firm-wide policies.
