Job summary

The West Virginia Department of Tourism seeks an Audit Clerk to assist the Finance team. This role serves as the agency’s primary auditor and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

The position is full-time and located at the Capitol Complex in Charleston, WV; remote work is not permitted. The successful candidate will review contracts, encumbrance documents, and payment requests for compliance with purchasing rules and regulations, and will handle other accounting duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP).
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to provide instructions.
• Ability to take ownership over projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively with different teams and independently.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for conferences and seminars.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized.
• Experience and/or interest in learning new data tools and software.
• Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Google workspace; interest in learning wvOASIS.

Responsibilities

• Review contracts and encumbrance documents per rules and regulations.
• Review agency payment requests in accordance with policies.
• Ensure supporting documentation meets contractual and grant requirements.
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
