Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking an Audiovisual Production Technician for the Ohio Union, a temporary (fixed term) role scheduled at 28 hours with varying shifts.

You will set up the room’s AV systems, understand projection, lighting, audio and control systems, communicate with clients on event AV needs, lead a small student crew, and ensure events run smoothly from setup to strike. Prior AV experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Certification or vocational training may be preferred.
  • 1 year of relevant experience required.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Setting up the room’s AV systems for client use
  • Hold a working understanding of the projection, lighting, audio and control systems in the conference spaces in the Ohio Union
  • Hold a working understanding of computers and presentation software
  • Be able to communicate with the clients day of the events about their AV needs as well as act as a liaison if any other department needs to be contacted for the client
  • Be able to lead a small crew of students, delegating tasks or providing training on equipment as necessary
  • Be able to successfully execute the events as prescribed
  • Working knowledge of performance spaces to be able to lead a crew of students to prepare for the events in the performance space.
  • Complete shift reports for event shifts to communicate information with full time staff.
  • Hold an understanding of event flow and terminology
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Certification or vocational training may be preferred.
  • 1 year of relevant experience required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous AV experience in a work or volunteer environment.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.

Target Salary Range

$21.35 - $24.88

FUNCTION: Information Technology, SUB FUNCTION: Audiovisual Production, CAREER BAND: Individual Contributor - Technical, CAREER LEVEL: 2. 70% Management of event crew for set up, event run, and strike of the event as detailed by the Planners and AV Coordinators. Setups include but are not limited to event lighting, sound reinforcement needs, and digital video projection. 20% Maintenance of Equipment or support of other small projects such as organizing storage spaces or training other student staff on equipment operation and procedures 10% Other duties as assigned to support the events and operation of the Ohio Union.
