Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking an Audiology 4th Year Extern to receive supervised training in assessments, diagnosis, evaluation, and habilitation across the audiology scope of practice. The position targets a one-year clinical externship with a ASHA-certified audiologist and progress toward a doctorate.

The role covers pediatric to adult patients, diverse vestibular and ABR testing, hearing aid and implantable device management, and collaboration within a fast-paced ENT clinic.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Audiology or completion of an accelerated AuD program with eligibility for MA Audiology license.
• 2 letters of recommendation from clinical preceptors/professors and a personal statement.
• 2 years of Doctorate of Audiology training (accelerated or 3 years non-accelerated).

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive audiologic evaluations for pediatric and adult patients.
• Conduct vestibular testing including VNG, VEMP, Ecog, Rotary Chair, and vHIT.
• Perform Auditory Brainstem Response testing for infants.
• Evaluate, fit, and troubleshoot hearing aids and cochlear implants.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary ENT clinic team to support efficient patient care.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in Audiology or 3 years completion/2 years in an accelerated program of accredited academic AuD coursework in Audiology; equivalent of Master's Degree in Audiology Eligibility for MA Audiology license

Essential Responsibilities/Duties

• Perform comprehensive audiologic evaluations for pediatric (8 month-18 years) and adult patients.
• Perform diverse vestibular testing (VNG, VEMP, Ecog, Rotary Chair, vHIT, & Canalith Repositioning)
• Perform Auditory Brainstem Response testing on infants (birth-6 months) Evaluate patients, fit, and troubleshoot hearing aids (pediatric/adult) Evaluate, program, and troubleshoot implantable devices (cochlear implant/osseointegrated devices)
• Collaborate on interdisciplinary team in a busy ENT clinic (inpatients, sedated procedures, etc.) Facilitates clinic efficiency (hearing aid dispensary, manufacturer communication, etc.)
