Kaiser Permanente in Harbor City, CA, is offering a one-year audiology externship, onsite at Parkview Medical Offices. The extern will conduct diagnostic evaluations of hearing and balance under the supervision of a California-licensed Audiology Coordinator and assist with cochlear implant assessments.
The program requires completion of a doctoral-level audiology track (3 years) or an accelerated 2-year path, and a CA temporary Audiology license at hire.
Position is limited to those who are completing their 4th year externship before licensure in audiology. Their practicum is to be under the direct supervision of the Audiology Coordinator. Under direct supervision of the Audiology Coordinator (a CA licensed Audiologist), the extern will provide diagnostic evaluation of the auditory and vestibular systems and aids in assessing the neurological status of adults and children. Under direct supervision of the Audiology Coordinator, provides direction, provides counseling on hearing loss prevention, habilitation and/or rehabilitation services related to identified audio-vestibular disorders. Under direct supervision of the Audiology Coordinator determines whether severely hearing‑impaired patients are candidates for cochlear implant surgery. NOTE: This is a one year temporary position.
