Job summary

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Per Diem Audiologist to NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan. The position involves administering a wide range of audiological tests, including ABR and VNG/rotary chair examinations, with detailed documentation and reporting to the referring physician.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of related experience in diagnosing balance disorders.
• Master’s Degree in Audiology required; Doctorate Degree preferred.
• Current NYS Audiology license.
• Basic ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer a wide variety of audiological tests to determine hearing level and site of lesion.
• Administer ABR and VNG/rotary chair examinations with questionnaires and test batteries.
• Read, interpret, prepare, and send tracings to referring physician.
• Counsel patients and families regarding test results and recommendations.
• Confer with medical staff and make recommendations for referrals and management.
• Prepare reports on diagnostic findings and ensure confidential distribution.
• Provide training to otolaryngology residents, medical students, and hospital staff.

Opportunity Details

• Diagnostic Testing: Administer a wide variety of audiological tests to determine the patient’s hearing level and most likely site of lesion to the auditory system. Anticipate the degree of social disability due to hearing loss and predict potential benefits to hearing aid use and/or special training. Includes newborn hearing screens.
• Specialized Exams: Administer ABR and Video-Nystagmography (VNG)/rotary chair examinations, including detailed questionnaires and a battery of tests to evaluate the auditory and vestibular systems. Read, interpret, prepare, and send tracings to the referring physician.
• Patient Counseling: Counsel patients and their families regarding test results and recommendations.
• Medical Collaboration: Confer with medical staff regarding audiological and vestibular problems and make recommendations regarding appropriate patient referral and management.
• Reporting: Prepare reports on diagnostic findings. Ensure reports are distributed appropriately and confidentially as authorized by the patient or the patient’s family.
• Education: Provide didactic and practical in-service training to otolaryngology residents, medical students, and other hospital staff.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of one year of related experience in diagnosing balance disorders.
• Education: Master’s Degree in Audiology required; Doctorate Degree preferred.
• Licensure: Current NYS Audiology license.
• Language: Basic ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.

Per Diem Rate = $41.00per hour*
