Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an Audio Visual Project Engineer to oversee complex commercial AV systems from design to implementation. You will collaborate with clients and project teams to deliver projects on time and within budget, creating submittals and ensuring equipment compatibility across stages.

The role requires AV integration experience, CAD/Bluebeam proficiency, and strong coordination with contractors and vendors in a fast-paced environment at our Salt Lake City site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in professional AV integration or a construction-related field.
• AVIXA CTS
• Intermediate to advanced computer modeling skills; AutoCAD preferred
• Experience with Bluebeam and creating markups
• Good understanding of AV system signal flow and design
• Experience installing commercial-grade AV systems
• Ability to create AV shop drawings including floor plans, elevations, one-line diagrams, heat/power calculations
• Ability to read construction drawings
• Proficient understanding of AV systems and construction processes
• Proficient in the RFI process
• Able to manage multiple projects and priorities to meet deadlines

Responsibilities

• Own design intent across assigned projects and align stakeholders
• Lead complex issues and anticipate risks before field calls
• Manage timelines and milestones across concurrent projects
• Create drawing submittals for AV packages and calculations
• Translate designs into constructible drawing packages and review datasheets
• Generate RFIs and Change Orders when required
• Maintain CAD/Drafting standards and improve them when needed
• Perform site walks and customer meetings
• Maintain as-builts in Bluebeam Studio
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams on procurement and resources
• Provide technical oversight during installation, configuration, and calibration
• Troubleshoot complex AV equipment issues
• Stay updated on AV industry trends and standards
