Position Overview:
The AV Programmer is responsible for programming, configuring, testing, commissioning, and supporting commercial audio-visual systems. This role works closely with Engineering, Project Management, Installation, and customers to ensure systems are properly programmed, integrated, documented, and delivered according to project requirements.
The ideal candidate is a technically skilled and dependable self-starter with experience programming Q-SYS, Crestron, Extron, and/or AMX systems. Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills are essential.
Programming and Configuration
- Program and configure AV control systems, including Q-SYS, Crestron, Extron, and AMX.
- Develop, modify, and maintain control system code based on project requirements.
- Program and configure DSPs, Video Wall Processors, and other AV devices.
- Configure conferencing systems and endpoints, including Cisco, MTR, Zoom and Google solutions.
- Configure IP-addressable AV devices and integrate equipment with customer networks.
- Review project drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and system documentation prior to programming.
- Coordinate with Engineering regarding design questions, programming requirements, and drawing revisions.
- Develop graphical user interfaces for touch panels and other control devices.
- Submit user interface designs for review and approval when required.
- Ability to effectively leverage AI tools for assigned responsibilities.
Testing and Commissioning
- Test and commission AV systems to verify proper operation and compliance with project requirements.
- Troubleshoot programming, control, audio, video, conferencing, and switching issues.
- Verify system functionality, control sequences, signal routing, and user operation.
- Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions through final system completion.
- Support customer training, acceptance testing, and customer turnover as required.
Communication & Documentation
- Communicate project status, manpower needs, risks, and field issues with Project Management.
- Ensure field changes, redlines, and required project documentation are accurate and completed.
- Escalate scope changes, unforeseen conditions, and customer requests before additional work is performed.
- Ensure programming files, device configuration files and other required project documentation are uploaded to M3 Central Storage.
- Conduct or provide support as required of customer training and system turnover.
General Requirements
- Regular and predictable attendance as scheduled.

- Depending on location, travel to job sites is required up to 65%.

Education and Experience:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years Audio Visual experience preferred
- Certified in AMX, Crestron, Extron, Biamp or QSC programming or obtain one manufacture certification within 12 months of employment.
- Valid driver's license with appropriate driving record
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to use computer for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
