Job summary

Visteon Corporation is seeking a Principal Product Development Engineer to drive automotive audio and infotainment systems from concept through launch, translating customer requirements into manufacturable solutions. You will lead cross‑functional teams and manage supplier relationships to ensure on‑time, quality delivery.

You will guide system integration, validation, and launch readiness, leveraging Jira for traceability and collaborating with OEMs to resolve issues and changes.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years in product/systems engineering, 3–5+ years in automotive audio/infotainment.
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams across hardware, software, validation, cybersecurity and manufacturing.
  • Proven track record of taking an automotive audio product from concept through SOP.
  • Experience managing suppliers, technical reviews, and issue resolution.
  • Strong understanding of EMC, vehicle networks and automated test tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of clear technical presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Translate customer and manufacturing requirements into detailed product specifications.
  • Develop system requirements using Jira with full traceability from customer to production.
  • Lead cross-functional technical discussions across Hardware, Software, Systems Engineering, Validation, Cybersecurity and Manufacturing.
  • Support product development from concept to SOP and launch preparation.
  • Collaborate with OEMs and internal stakeholders to clarify requirements and manage changes.
  • Analyze test results and drive corrective actions with development and supplier teams.
  • Oversee system integration activities involving audio, infotainment, and vehicle networking.
  • Ensure EMC and environmental design validation meets customer expectations.
  • Interface with suppliers for reviews, issue resolution, and component integration.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and quality during prototypes, launches, and escalations.
  • Drive continuous improvement of requirements management, validation methods, and product quality.
  • Participate in customer reviews, design reviews, and launch readiness assessments.

Mission of the Role

Serve as the Principal Product Development Engineer for automotive audio and infotainment products, ensuring successful translation of customer requirements into manufacturable solutions. Drive cross‑functional collaboration across systems, hardware, software, validation, quality, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to deliver high‑quality products from concept through launch.

What you’ll do
  • Translate customer, product, and manufacturing requirements into detailed and actionable product specifications.
  • Develop system requirements using Jira, ensuring complete traceability from customer requirements through validation and production.
  • Lead cross‑functional technical discussions across Hardware, Software, Systems Engineering, Validation Team Cybersecurity, and Manufacturing teams to ensure alignment throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support product development activities from concept, architecture definition, design reviews, launch preparation, and Start of Production (SOP).
  • Collaborate with OEM customers and internal stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve technical issues, and manage requirement changes.
  • Analyze test results and drive corrective actions with development and supplier teams.
  • Support system integration activities involving automotive audio, infotainment, vehicle networking.
  • Work with hardware team to meet customers EMC and environmental design validation expectations.
  • Serve as the technical interface for supplier reviews, issue resolution, component integration, and product maturation activities.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and quality teams during prototype builds, launches, and production escalations.
  • Drive continuous improvement of requirements management, validation methods, engineering processes, and product quality.
  • Participate in customer reviews, technical design reviews, issue resolution meetings, and launch readiness assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive development processes, quality standards, and customer‑specific requirements.
Reporting Structure

This position will report to Visteon’s Senior Program Manager.

What you will Bring
Required/Desired Education And Experience
  • Bachelor's/master's degree preferred in Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • 6+ years in product/systems engineering, with 3–5+ years specifically in automotive audio or infotainment systems (infotainment systems, radio modules and amplifiers).
  • Prior experience leading or coordinating cross‑functional engineering teams — Hardware, Software, System Engineering, Functional Validation, Cybersecurity,and manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated experience or knowledge taking an automotive audio product from concept through SOP (Start of Production): requirements definition, design, validation, and launch.
  • Experience managing suppliers — sourcing, technical reviews, issue resolution.
  • Critical thinking skills; good product line knowledge, knowledge of integration testing, knowledge of vehicle networks will be an advantage.
  • Experience with EMC configuration, audio, or infotainment as well as knowledge of automated test tools.
  • Able to share information, written, oral and in presentation form, clearly and accurately.

Key Performance Indicators
  • Project Timeliness and Milestone Achievement: Measure the adherence to project timelines and milestones outlined in the development plan. Track the completion of key deliverables against scheduled dates to ensure project progress. KPI: Percentage of milestones achieved on time.
  • Customer Satisfaction and Feedback: Gauge customer satisfaction levels among engine customer engineering teams regarding Visteon's technical solutions and project management. Collect feedback regularly and address any concerns or issues promptly to maintain a positive relationship with the customer. KPI: Customer satisfaction score (measured through surveys or feedback sessions).
