Job summary

The Daily Beast in New York is seeking a Community Manager to grow and engage our audience across Reddit, YouTube, and our on-site commenting platform. This cross-functional role collaborates with editors and producers to keep conversations sharp, lively, and on-brand.

Based in NYC four days a week, you will manage Reddit strategy, build YouTube content plans, grow OpenWeb engagement, and help shape the editorial voice across platforms.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years experience in social media, community management, audience development, or digital journalism.
• Deep familiarity with Reddit and YouTube and what drives engagement.
• Strong editorial instincts to write sharp prompts and comment responses.
• Analytical mindset and ability to read data to inform strategy.
• Highly organized and able to work across multiple teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Genuine interest in media, news, and digital communities.

Responsibilities

• Manage Reddit strategy including posting, commenting, and community building.
• Build and execute a YouTube Community content plan that complements video publishing.
• Grow on-site engagement via OpenWeb, including moderation and prompts, coordinating with product team.
• Curate top community comments for social media, newsletters, and on-site features.
• Track engagement trends and user behavior across platforms; collaborate with editors and social team.
