Job summary

Overview

DLA Piper is seeking a Litigation Attorney (non‑partnership track) to join its Miami office. The role is open to Florida‑admitted lawyers.

Experience & Education

Minimum 4 years of experience in litigation matters in state and federal courts, including drafting pleadings and briefs, taking and defending depositions, addressing discovery disputes, and general litigation case management. Experience in healthcare and/or ERISA matters is desired. Prior state court or federal clerkship experience is a plus. Minimum education: JD and admission to the Florida Bar.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with partners, lawyers, clients, staff, and third parties.
  • Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence promptly, meeting all deadlines.
  • Analyze complex legal issues logically and apply legal principles and research to specific facts.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and well‑reasoned work product.
  • Be available when needed, including after business hours, evenings, and weekends.
  • Apply sustained concentration for extended periods of time.
  • Work under pressure to meet deadlines and perform to the satisfaction of clients and colleagues.
  • Engage in both physical and sedentary activity (computer work, on‑screen reading, typing, telephonic‑conferences, meetings at client offices and the firm).
  • Travel as required for client meetings, advocacy before tribunals or government agencies, or business‑development activities.
  • Foster relationships and anticipate clients’ needs for continued engagement.
  • Mentor and supervise junior lawyers and staff.
  • Observe all firm policies and practices.
