Job summary

Accrescent Group is seeking an experienced Attorney - Insurance Defense to independently manage higher-value and complex matters in Western Pennsylvania, with a fully remote arrangement. The role supports a growing regional caseload and a longer-term market presence, working alongside another attorney in the region.

You will develop case strategy, draft pleadings, handle depositions, and manage appearances while building relationships with insurers and corporate clients in the Western PA area.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active Pennsylvania law license.
• Substantial insurance defense litigation experience.
• Ability to independently manage complex matters.
• Strong legal research and oral advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage insurance defense matters from inception through resolution, including higher-value and complex litigation.
• Develop case strategy, draft pleadings/motions/briefs/discovery, conduct and defend depositions.
• Handle court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, trial preparation.
• Take ownership of significant litigation matters with minimal supervision.
• Maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers, claims professionals, self-insured entities, and corporate clients.
• Help client expand its insurance defense presence throughout Western Pennsylvania, build regional relationships.

Job description

We're seeking an experienced Attorney - Insurance Defense located in Western Pennsylvania to independently manage higher-value and complex insurance defense matters with minimal supervision. The attorney will work remotely alongside another attorney in Western Pennsylvania, support the firm's growing regional caseload, and help build a stronger long-term presence in the market.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Required: Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; Active Pennsylvania law license; substantial insurance defense litigation experience; demonstrated ability to independently manage complex matters; experience handling higher-value litigation; strong legal research/writing and oral advocacy skills.

Strong Plus

Large loss or high-exposure insurance defense experience; trial experience; significant deposition experience; experience representing insurance carriers or self-insured entities; general liability, automobile liability, premises liability, or trucking/transportation litigation experience; existing relationships with regional insurance carriers, claims professionals, or corporate clients; business development experience; portable book of business.

Preferred

Deep familiarity with the Western Pennsylvania legal market; existing professional network in the region; entrepreneurial approach to practice growth.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Fully remote. Client is also open to considering a small group of experienced attorneys, a small established practice, or attorneys/teams with portable business — for the right candidate or group, this role may develop into a broader leadership and practice-building opportunity.
