Zarwin is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join a fully remote role serving Western Pennsylvania. You will independently manage higher-value matters and collaborate with a regional team to strengthen the firm’s footprint in the market.

The ideal candidate has substantial insurance defense litigation experience, strong research and oral advocacy skills, and PA license. This is a remote opportunity with regional impact and growth potential.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage insurance defense matters from inception through resolution, including higher-value and complex litigation.
• Develop case strategy, draft pleadings/motions/briefs/discovery, conduct and defend depositions.
• Handle court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, trial preparation.
• Take ownership of significant litigation matters with minimal supervision.
• Maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers, claims professionals, self-insured entities, and corporate clients.
• Help Client expand its insurance defense presence throughout Western Pennsylvania, build regional relationships.

Practice Area: Insurance Defense | Complex Casualty Litigation | Large Loss | General Liability
Client is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney located in Western Pennsylvania. This role is designed for a
self-directed attorney with substantial insurance defense experience who can independently manage higher-value and more complex matters with minimal supervision. The attorney will work remotely and join another Zarwin attorney already located in Western Pennsylvania, supporting the firm's growing regional caseload and helping build a
stronger long-term footprint in the market.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently manage insurance defense matters from inception through resolution, including higher-value and complex litigation
- Develop case strategy, draft pleadings/motions/briefs/discovery, conduct and defend depositions
- Handle court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, trial preparation
- Take ownership of significant litigation matters with minimal supervision
- Maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers, claims professionals, self-insured entities, and corporate clients
- Help Client expand its insurance defense presence throughout Western Pennsylvania, build regional relationships
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Required:

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school;
  
• Active Pennsylvania law license; substantial insurance defense litigation experience;
  
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex matters;
  
• Experience handling higher-value litigation; strong legal research/writing and oral advocacy skills.
  

Strong Plus:

• Large loss or high-exposure insurance defense experience;
  
• Trial experience;
  
• Significant deposition experience;
  
• Experience representing insurance carriers or self-insured entities;
  
• General liability, automobile liability, premises liability, or trucking/transportation litigation experience; Existing relationships with regional insurance carriers, claims professionals, or corporate clients;
  
• Business development experience; portable book of business.
  

Preferred:

• Deep familiarity with the Western Pennsylvania legal market;
  
• Existing professional network in the region; Entrepreneurial approach to practice growth.
  

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Fully remote. Client is also open to considering a small group of experienced attorneys, a small established practice, or
attorneys/teams with portable business — for the right candidate or group, this role may develop into a broader leadership and practice-building opportunity.
