The successful candidate will manage a busy litigation caseload from intake through resolution, develop defense strategies, handle discovery and motion practice, participate in depositions and trials as needed, and maintain strong client relationships. We welcome partner-level candidates with a book of business or small groups with portable business, and seek candidates

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and PA bar admission.
• 5+ years of litigation experience with a focus on insurance defense and complex matters; trial experience preferred.
• Experience in all phases of litigation: discovery, motions, depositions, and trial prep.
• Strong legal writing, oral advocacy, and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

Insurance Defense Attorney

We are seeking a skilled Insurance Defense Attorney to represent insurer clients in a wide range of liability matters. The successful candidate will manage a busy litigation caseload from intake through resolution, develop defense strategies, handle discovery and motion practice, participate in depositions and trials as needed, and maintain strong client relationships. This role requires sound legal judgment, excellent advocacy, and the ability to collaborate with claims teams and outside experts to achieve favorable outcomes while controlling exposure and costs.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent insurance clients in state and federal court matters, including pleadings, motion practice, hearings, and trials
• Manage a diverse caseload of complex litigation matters, from initial case assessment through resolution or trial
• Conduct thorough factual and legal investigations, including taking and defending depositions, directing discovery, and preparing witnesses
• Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, briefs, settlement documents, and other litigation-related correspondence
• Develop case strategy in collaboration with claims professionals, experts, and co-counsel to achieve cost-effective resolutions
• Negotiate settlements and alternative dispute resolution outcomes that align with client goals and exposure limits
• Perform legal research and provide clear, practical legal opinions and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders
• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff; review work product for quality and consistency
• Maintain timely and accurate case management records, billing entries, and client communications
• Stay current on developments in insurance law, civil procedure, and relevant case law and regulatory changes

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and admission to the PA bar
• 5+ years of litigation experience with a focus on insurance defense and complex litigation matters; trial experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience in all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation
• Strong legal writing, oral advocacy, and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage a heavy caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while producing high-quality work
• Familiarity with e-discovery tools, case management software, and courtroom technology
• Experience working with adjusters, claims teams, and experts to evaluate exposure and shape defense strategy
