Sterling Hughes, LLC is seeking a qualified attorney to join our rapidly growing family law team in Illinois. We operate on a fixed-fee model to reduce stress and micromanagement, empowering a collaborative and supportive environment where attorneys can focus on client impact.

We offer competitive base pay ranging from $55,000 to $115,000 annually, with bonuses based on transparent metrics and individual performance, plus full benefits and a merit-based culture focused on growth and impact.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate (JD) is required.
• Bar license in good standing.

Responsabilités

• Know family law practice in Cook, DuPage, Lake, and McHenry counties.
• Advise clients on ongoing litigation and explain legal issues.
• Research facts and evidence, including financial records and pleadings.
• Interpret case law and decisions from relevant courts.
• Develop case strategies for quicker, cost-effective resolutions.
• Prepare pleadings and documents such as exhibits and prenups.
• Appear in court to present testimony and arguments for clients.
• Delegate to support staff and mentor junior attorneys.
• Collaborate effectively with team and work independently.

Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

• Knowledgeable regarding family law practice and procedure within practicing counties such as Cook, DuPage, Lake, and McHenry
• Advise clients regarding ongoing litigation and explain legal issues the client might be facing or have concerns about.
• Research facts and evidence involved in each case, such as financial records, evaluations, reports of third-party experts and/or pleadings previously filed with the Court as well as applicable law.
• Interpret case law and decisions handed down by relevant courts. This may involve analyzing effects of multiple factors that may have been presented in other cases.
• Develop case strategies, including opportunities for quick and cost-effective resolution for our clients rather than time-consuming and expensive litigation.
• Prepare pleadings and other documents such as exhibits, balance sheets, support calculations, and prenuptial agreements.
• Appear in court before a judge to present testimony, evidence, and arguments asserting the client's rights and best interests.
• Ability to delegate to the support team and mentor less experienced attorneys.
• Ability to work well with others on a team as well as independently.

Sterling Hughes is the largest family law firm in Wisconsin, with 21 lawyers, and is expanding its Illinois team, which currently has seven lawyers. Founded in June of 2014 as a general practice firm, Sterling Hughes pivoted to focus entirely on family law in February of 2016.

At the same time, each lawyer has support from teammates who specialize in specific tasks, such as e-filing.
