State Compensation Insurance Fund’s Oxnard Legal office is seeking a motivated Attorney (Attorney III or Attorney levels) to join our exceptional legal team defending California’s insured employers and state agencies. Who We’re Looking For:

Attorneys who are licensed to practice law in California. Experienced (Attorney III) or newly admitted (Attorney) with a passion for litigation. No prior workers’ comp experience required for Attorney. Newly admitted attorneys are highly encouraged to join our team. Location:

The Oxnard Legal unit appears at the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) district offices in Oxnard, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo. The incumbent/successful candidate may also be required to appear at other WCAB offices and locations on occasion.

To facilitate local in-person hearings, we seek candidates located within Ventura County, Los Angeles County, and Kern County. Reimbursement for local travel will be provided within the allowable mile radius.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience in Federal and State workers’ compensation.
• Ability to comprehend complex medical reports, including orthopedic evaluations.
• Exceptional analytical, written, and oral communication skills.

• Concise and persuasive writing abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills, coupled with the ability to manage caseloads and meet deadlines.
• Effective collaboration with peers, supervisors, internal and external clients, and other State Fund employees.
• The flexibility to work independently and as a cohesive team member.
