Job summary

District of Columbia Department of Buildings (DOB) seeks an Attorney Advisor in its Office of the General Counsel to litigate before the Office of Administrative Hearings and the Board of Zoning Adjustment, and to provide legal advice on regulatory, compliance, enforcement, and ethics matters.

The incumbent will draft memoranda, letters, policies, recommendations, and other documents, conduct witness examinations, and manage case responsibilities from start to finish.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of post-J.D. professional legal experience.
• DC Bar in good standing or eligible for waiver within 365 days of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Provide sound legal advice to senior management and division heads; draft memoranda, letters, policies and recommendations.
• Represent the agency before the Office of Administrative Hearings and the Board of Zoning Adjustment; prepare evidence, briefs, motions, and oral arguments.
• Review enforcement notices and orders; draft legislation and regulations; review laws for amendment and compliance.
