Job summary

Ball Arena seeks an experienced Attorney in Denver, CO to support the EVP, Distribution & Deputy General Counsel on a broad range of legal and compliance matters for KSE and its subsidiaries. You will draft and negotiate contracts, assist with governance and IP matters, manage risk, and ensure privacy compliance while collaborating with internal teams and outside counsel.

The role requires a J.D. and bar admission, 8 years of legal experience (preferred in-house and/or law firm), and strong

Qualifications

• 8 years of legal experience; mix of law firm and in-house experience preferred.
• Broad, direct experience with contracts, licensing, privacy, IP rights and corporate governance.
• Strong organizational and project management skills for handling high-volume workload.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Support transactional matters: draft/negotiate sponsorship, licensing, event, technology, media rights, ticketing, marketing, leases and vendor agreements.
• Assist with corporate governance and corporate finance matters.
• Assist with litigation matters and coordinate with outside counsel.
• Manage insurance matters with Risk Management.
• Assist with IP matters: trademarks, domains, copyrights.
• Ensure privacy and data protection compliance.
• Draft and monitor corporate policies.
• Monitor league rules, directives and governance documents.
• Develop and conduct trainings for employees on legal/compliance topics.

Nature of Work:
Assist the EVP, Distribution & Deputy General Counsel with all legal and compliance matters associated with Kroenke Sports & Entertainment and its subsidiaries, including the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rapids, Colorado Mammoth, Ball Arena, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, Paramount Theater, Altitude Sports Network, Outdoor Sportsman Group, as well as several other media, broadcast and sporting entities (collectively “KSE”). In this role you will partner, coordinate, and communicate with colleagues at all levels and across all businesses at KSE delivering comprehensive legal services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support on all transactional matters related to the business operations of KSE, including, but not limited to, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts such as sponsorship, licensing agreements, event agreements, technology agreements, media rights agreements, ticketing agreements, marketing/promotional agreements, sweepstakes rules, retail leases, and arena operation and vendor agreements
• Assist with corporate governance and corporate finance matters
• Assist with litigation matters and coordinate with outside counsel
• Management of insurance matters in coordination with Risk Management
• Assist with intellectual property matters, including trademarks, domains and copyrights
• Ensure compliance with privacy and data protection laws and regulations
• Assist with drafting and monitoring corporate policies
• Analysis and monitoring of relevant league rules, regulations, directives, and governance documents
• Develop and conduct educational trainings for KSE employees on all relevant legal and compliance matters

Required Skills, Experience and Abilities:
To perform the job successfully, you will have or demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

• J.D. and bar admission required
• 8 years of legal experience; mix of law firm and in house experience preferred
• Broad, direct experience with a variety of legal matters, including contracts, licensing, privacy, intellectual property rights and corporate governance
• Organizational and project management skills necessary to support and advise internal clients and ensure projects are completed in a timely and effective manner

• Flexibility to adapt to frequently changing work environment, learn and advise on new or changing areas of the law, and deliver on challenging demands
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and organizations and build relationships

Compensation:

• Annual salary range of $192,000- $208,000
• Eligible for annual discretional bonus
