Litigation Attorney – Insurance & Civil Litigation

Work Location: Atlanta, GA

Schedule: Hybrid

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join an established law firm’s growing practice in Atlanta. This opportunity is suited for an attorney with a strong litigation background who can independently manage cases, develop effective legal strategies, and advocate for clients through negotiation, settlement, and trial.

The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of litigation experience, with a background in personal injury, insurance defense, insurance litigation, or related civil litigation. Experience with insurance coverage disputes and bad-faith matters is a plus. The attorney should be comfortable handling cases from initial evaluation through resolution while building strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Case Management: Oversee litigation matters from initial case assessment through settlement or trial, ensuring deadlines and procedural requirements are met.
• Legal Research & Strategy: Research applicable laws and precedents, evaluate case facts, and develop effective litigation strategies.
• Drafting & Discovery: Prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
• Depositions & Court Proceedings: Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials as needed.
• Insurance Disputes: Evaluate coverage issues, claim denials, underpaid claims, and potential bad-faith matters where applicable.
• Negotiation & Resolution: Work with opposing counsel, insurers, and other parties to negotiate settlements and resolve disputes.
• Client Advocacy: Provide clear legal guidance and maintain regular communication with clients regarding case progress and available options.
• Team Collaboration: Work alongside attorneys and legal support staff to coordinate case activities and maintain efficient workflows.
• Business Development: Contribute to client relationship development and business growth, with support from the firm’s business development and marketing resources.

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Georgia, in good standing.
• At least 7 years of litigation experience.
• Experience in one or more relevant areas, including personal injury, insurance defense, insurance litigation, insurance coverage, or civil litigation.
• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage cases independently and prioritize competing deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with first-party property insurance disputes, coverage issues, or bad-faith litigation.
• Trial experience and a demonstrated ability to develop litigation strategy.
• Experience developing client relationships or contributing to business development.
