Job summary

Applied Information Sciences (AIS) is seeking a Senior Enterprise Atlassian Engineer to lead Jira, Confluence, JSM and Crowd administration for a high-visibility national security mission. The role requires hands-on configuration, security posture, and cross‑team collaboration across multi-enclave environments.

You will partner with mission, security, IT, and operations teams to deliver resilient, secure, and scalable Atlassian solutions that support federal public safety objectives.

Qualifications

• Experience with Atlassian tools in enterprise environments.
• Strong ability to design and optimize workflows and automations.
• Familiarity with security/compliance standards (ATO/FISMA).

Responsibilities

• Administer and scale Jira, Confluence, JSM, and Crowd for daily operations.
• Triage and resolve tickets from access requests to complex config changes.
• Improve workflows, fields, dashboards, reports, and permission models.
• Manage marketplace apps, including installs, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Oversee access and identity via Crowd and SSO integrations.
• Run platform operations: upgrades, patches, deployments, backups, logging and monitoring.
• Support compliance needs and documentation (ATO, audits).

• Core Knowledge & Skills: Works across multiple languages and platforms, designs and implements architectural decisions, applies design patterns, cloud-native services, IAAS/PAAS/SAAS basics, and secure coding practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10).


• Work & Complexity: Performs complex tasks under limited guidance, integrates and troubleshoots distributed or cloud services, and optimizes performance and scalability.

As your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a Atlassian Platform Engineer.

Join AIS as a Senior Enterprise Atlassian Engineer, supporting enterprise-level Jira and Confluence administration for a high-visibility national security mission. This hands‑on role is critical to modernizing and scaling collaboration platforms across multi-enclave environments. You’ll partner with mission, security, IT, and operations teams to deliver resilient, secure, and high-performing Atlassian solutions that drive federal public safety and national security objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and scale Jira, Confluence, JSM, and Crowd for daily enterprise operations.


• Triage and resolve support tickets—from access requests to advanced configuration changes.


• Improve workflows, fields, dashboards, reports, templates, and permission models.


• Manage marketplace apps, including installs, upgrades, troubleshooting, and performance checks.


• Oversee access and identity via Crowd, Microsoft Entra ID, and SSO integrations.


• Run platform operations: upgrades, patches, deployments, backups, logging, and monitoring.


• Support compliance needs, including ATO documentation, audits, and configuration baselines.

Required For This Opportunity

• Active Top Secret clearance


• Ability to work onsite in Washington, DC (5 days/week)


• Minimum 5 years supporting enterprise IT platforms or collaboration ecosystems


• Handson experience administering enterprise Jira, Confluence, and Crowd with focus on workflow design, automations and plugin management


• Familiarity with Linux administration, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and FISMA/ATO compliance


• Strong written and verbal communication; excels in stakeholder engagement and cross‑team collaboration.


• Comfortable operating in fast paced, dynamic environments; able to prioritize and deliver under shifting mission needs.


• Familiarity with Agile/SAFe; able to configure tools to reflect best practice delivery models and ceremonies.

Nice To Have Skills

• Experience in federal/highsecurity or multienclave environments.


• Experience integrating AI‑enabled capabilities (e.g., classifiers, intelligent routing) into enterprise collaboration platform.

At AIS, we are committed to offering competitive and fair compensation that reflects the skills, experience, and contributions of each team member. The targeted base salary range for this role is $100,000-$150,000 per year. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.
