Job summary

AIS is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a mission‑driven, employee‑owned team delivering impactful client projects. You’ll design architecture, implement cloud‑native services, apply design patterns, and uphold secure coding practices (OWASP Top 10).

You will lead code reviews, mentor teammates, and communicate across technical and non‑technical stakeholders while working directly with clients. This role requires onsite work in Washington, DC, five days per week and an active Top

Qualifications

Active Top Secret clearance.
Hands-on experience administering enterprise Jira/Confluence/Crowd with workflow design and automations.
Strong background in Linux, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and compliance (FISMA/ATO).
Ability to work onsite in Washington, DC, five days/week.
5+ years supporting enterprise IT platforms or collaboration ecosystems.
Experience integrating CI pipelines and enterprise collaboration platforms.
Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Administer and scale Jira, Confluence, JSM, and Crowd for daily enterprise operations.
Triage and resolve support tickets, from access requests to complex configurations.
Improve workflows, fields, dashboards, reports, templates, and permission models.
Manage marketplace apps, including installs, upgrades, troubleshooting, and performance checks.
Oversee access and identity via Crowd, Microsoft Entra ID, and SSO integrations.
Run platform operations: upgrades, patches, deployments, backups, logging, and monitoring.
Support compliance needs, including ATO documentation, audits, and configuration baselines.

For this position, we are seeking a talented individual to join AIS as a Senior Software Engineer.

Core Knowledge & Skills

Works across multiple languages and platforms, designs and implements architectural decisions, applies design patterns, cloud‑native services, IAAS/PAAS/SAAS basics, and secure coding practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10).

Work & Complexity

Performs complex tasks under limited guidance, integrates and troubleshoots distributed or cloud services, and optimizes performance and scalability.

Quality & Independence

Sets a high bar for code quality, multitasks effectively, owns and corrects errors quickly, and drives continuous improvement.

Teamwork & Communication

Leads code reviews, mentors teammates, and translates technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.

Consulting & Engagement

Works directly with clients without oversight, writes technical RFP content when needed, nurtures client relationships, and manages routine client concerns.

Key Responsibilities

Required For This Opportunity

Active Top Secret clearance
Ability to work onsite in Washington, DC (5 days/week)
Minimum 5 years supporting enterprise IT platforms or collaboration ecosystems
Hands‑on experience administering enterprise Jira, Confluence, and Crowd with focus on workflow design, automations and plugin management
Familiarity with Linux administration, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and FISMA/ATO compliance
Strong written and verbal communication; excels in stakeholder engagement and cross‑team collaboration.
Comfortable operating in fast paced, dynamic environments; able to prioritize and deliver under shifting mission needs.
Familiarity with Agile/SAFe; able to configure tools to reflect bestpractice delivery models and ceremonies.

Nice to Have Skills

Experience in federal/highsecurity or multienclave environments.
Experience integrating AIenabled capabilities (e.g., classifiers, intelligent routing) into enterprise collaboration platform.

At AIS, we are committed to offering competitive and fair compensation that reflects the skills, experience, and contributions of each team member. The targeted base salary range for this role is $100,000-$150,000 per year. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.
