Job summary

Providence College seeks a Chief Medical Officer for student-athletes to oversee athletic health, performance and wellness within the Athletics Department. You will lead medical services, supervise staff, and ensure NCAA compliance while coordinating with external medical partners.

The role requires a Master’s degree in athletic training, ATC, Rhode Island licensure, and 5–7 years’ experience; strong leadership, budget management, and the ability to travel and work evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in athletic training and ATC certification required.
• Rhode Island training licensure and state credentialing.
• 5–7 years’ experience in athletic health and well‑being or equivalent.
• Strong leadership, budgeting, and staff supervision capabilities.
• Ability to work weekends/evenings and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, and supervise athletic training staff and oversee admin duties.
• Serve as NCAA healthcare administrator and provide direct medical care.
• Act as Chief Medical Officer, liaising with external physicians and partners.
• Coordinate mental health/wellness strategies with counseling center staff.
• Participate in executive leadership and strategic decision making in athletics.
• Oversee performance nutrition and high‑performance programs; manage related budget.
