Metro Grounds Management is seeking an experienced Athletics Field Supervisor to lead the maintenance, preparation, and improvement of natural-turf athletic fields throughout our service area.
This hands-on position combines specialized equipment operation, crew supervision, daily scheduling, quality control, and customer communication to ensure every athletic field is safe, attractive, and ready for play.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and coordinate crews performing athletic-field maintenance, preparation, and renovation.
- Operate a Toro Reelmaster 5010-H for precision mowing and professional presentation of athletic turf.
- Operate a Kubota L6060 enclosed-cab tractor with specialized PTO-driven attachments.
- Safely connect, inspect, adjust, and operate PTO attachments used for aeration, seeding, topdressing, mowing, renovation, and related turf work.
- Perform mowing, aeration, overseeding, fertilization, topdressing, grooming, edging, surface repair, and general turf maintenance.
- Prepare fields for practices, games, tournaments, and special events, including layout, striping, dragging, and final safety inspections.
- Inspect fields for unsafe conditions, drainage issues, compaction, turf damage, irrigation concerns, pests, and disease.
- Assign daily work, coach employees, monitor productivity, and confirm that contract and quality standards are met.
- Complete pre- and post-operation equipment inspections, basic preventive maintenance, and accurate service and equipment records.
- Communicate professionally with managers, customers, coaches, athletic directors, and property representatives.
- Follow all company safety procedures and promptly report incidents, property damage, hazards, and mechanical concerns.
- Support snow operations and other seasonal services when required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate a Toro Reelmaster 5010-H.
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate a Kubota L6060 enclosed-cab tractor with specialty PTO attachments.
- Previous experience maintaining athletic fields, commercial turf, golf-course turf, or similar high-quality turf areas.
- Experience leading or supervising field crews and coordinating daily production.
- Working knowledge of athletic-field mowing patterns, turf renovation, aeration, seeding, fertilization, topdressing, and field preparation.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform routine equipment inspections and minor maintenance.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, prioritize assignments, and meet event-driven deadlines.
- Availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, seasonal overtime, and changing weather conditions as schedules require.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Three or more years of athletic-field or professional turf-maintenance experience.
- One or more years of crew-lead or supervisory experience.
- Experience operating aerators, seeders, topdressers, reel and rotary mowers, utility vehicles, and field-grooming equipment.
- Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and basic turf-equipment troubleshooting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely enter, exit, and operate tractors, mowers, utility vehicles, and other equipment.
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, stand, and walk for extended periods on uneven athletic surfaces.
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, dust, noise, and changing weather conditions.
