Job description

Located on 200 acres in Pennsylvania’s beautiful Pocono Mountains, Camp Lindenmere is a private, coed sleepaway camp founded in 1935, for campers ranging in age from 7-17. Our Athletics Program offers a variety of sports with a focus on skill development and teamwork. From basic beginner instruction to competitive sports, our athletics coaches and instructors strive to make each of their activities areas exciting, fun, and instructional. Campers have the opportunity to compete against fellow camps in the sports they love at a friendly or competitive level. Lindenmere also participates in intercamp and intracamp competitions throughout the summer. Our facilities consist of 3 covered and lit Basketball Courts, 2 natural Grass Fields, covered Hockey Pavilion, State of the Art Fitness Center, sand Volleyball Court, youth-size Baseball Field, Golf Driving Range and Putting Green, and 8 full-sized Tennis/Pickle-Ball Courts. All areas have tons of exciting activities for campers to participate in. Whether a camper wants to learn how to dribble a ball, kick a soccer ball, swing a bat or golf club, and even learn proper technique to weight-lift, there’s something for every level of athlete here at Lindenmere! The Athletic Director will oversee all of it (along with an Assistant Athletic Director and lots of wonderful coaches/instructors).

Qualifications

  • At least 21 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience in all sports, at a minimum; other certifications (including CSCS, ATC, CPT, Coaching Licenses, etc.) are preferred.
  • Teachers and/or coaches are preferred.
  • Knowledge of program design.
  • Experience working with kids.
  • Management experience preferred and B.A. in relative field (such as Exercise Science, Athletic Training, and/or Recreational Education).
  • Experience which relates to the Roles & Responsibilities, preferably in a camp setting.
  • Willingness to work cooperatively and independently.
  • Strong planning skills; well-organized, yet flexible.
  • Confident, energetic, approachable, and fun to be around.

Roles & Responsibilities

The Athletic Director will oversee the Athletic Program at Camp Lindenmere, including Basketball, Soccer, Lacrosse, Flag Football, Golf, Volleyball, Baseball/Softball, Fitness, Hockey, and so much more. The AD will plan and facilitate inter- and intra-camp games and tournaments for both campers and staff. The AD will work with an Assistant Athletic Director to oversee a team of coaches and instructors.

  • Responsible for overall management of the Lindenmere Athletics Program.
  • Plan, direct and supervise a successful Athletic Program.
  • Supervise approximately 20 coaches and athletic counselors; implement the schedule and time-off for staff.
  • Responsible for the safety, care and instruction of the campers.
  • Ability management of all Athletic facilities (including knowledge of rules, lining fields, and proper programming for development).
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Motivated to take initiative and have a strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to work in a camp environment.
  • Implement all safety measures and enforce all rules and regulations in accordance with the ACA and Camp Lindenmere standards.
  • Highly safety conscious.

Salary:

Competitive salary based on experience, as well as travel stipend. (Camper tuition is also available.)

Camp amenities include (but are not limited to) a state of the art, indoor fitness center, heated pool, private lake, and renovated staff lounge with computers, Wifi and TV.
