Virginia Military Institute is seeking an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications to serve as the primary communications contact for select sports and to promote VMI Athletics through accurate, timely content across digital, social media, broadcast, and traditional media platforms.

  • Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with athletic media relations and content management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary communications contact for men's soccer, swimming & diving, wrestling, and baseball.
  • Provide coverage for other sports and departmental needs as assigned.
  • Manage publicity and media relations, including press releases, previews, recaps, features, notes, and statistics.
  • Maintain rosters, schedules, results, records, biographies, and historical data on the VMI Athletics site.
  • Coordinate game-day information operations, credentials, media areas, and postgame materials.
  • Create engaging digital content, including graphics, photos, short-form video, and social media posts.
