Job summary

Babson College in Massachusetts is seeking an Assistant Coach within the Department of Athletics and Recreation. This non-exempt, hourly role supports the head coach, coaches practice sessions and games, and mentors student-athletes.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree, 1–3 years coaching experience, CPR/First Aid/AED and concussion training (or within three months), OSHA Blood Born Pathogen training, and willingness to travel for games and recruiting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 1–3 years coaching experience.
• CPR/First Aid/AED and concussion recognition training required or to be obtained within three months.
• Blood Borne Pathogen training per OSHA; maintained yearly.
• Strong communication skills.
• Compliance with NCAA, NEWMAC, and Babson College rules.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the head coach on program direction and assumes duties of head coach in their absence.
• Assists in planning and coaching practice sessions and games; teaches advanced skills and game strategies.
• Counsels students and refers them to appropriate student support resources.
• Monitors academic progress; mentors athletes and coordinates with deans.
• Develops liaison with Health Services, Residential Education, Student Activities and Leadership Programs, and other departments.
• Assists in scouting opponents and planning recruiting activities.
• Assumes additional administrative responsibilities in the department as required.
