Job summary

MT. PLEASANT PUBLIC SCHOOLS is seeking an Athletic Trip (Extra Curricular) Bus Driver. The role requires a Class A or B CDL with S and P endorsements and an air brake endorsement, plus completion of required safety exams and background checks.

The driver will transport students to athletic events, maintain discipline on the bus, and ensure safety and timely arrivals. Interaction with students and parents is essential, and prior experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Class A or B CDL with S and P endorsements and an air brake endorsement.
  • Pass state required physical exam and drug screening.
  • State required fingerprinting, driver’s license, and background check.
  • Attend and complete a State safety education class, written and driving skill tests.
  • Applicant should have ability to interact with both students and parents in a positive manner.
  • Experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obeys all traffic laws.
  • Observes all mandatory safety regulation for school buses.
  • Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
  • Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
  • Keep assigned bus clean.
  • Keeps assigned schedule.
  • Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
  • Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
  • Discharges students only at authorized stops.
  • Exercises responsible leadership when on out of district school trips.
  • Transports only authorized students.
  • Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
  • Endorses regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
