Job summary

Manistique Area Schools is seeking a Transportation Director for a 12-month, full-time role with vacation. Annual base salary ranges from $55,000 to $62,000 plus full benefits. Start date is August 24, 2026 or as negotiated.

Qualifications include a HS Diploma or GED, a valid CDL with endorsements, and knowledge of school bus rules and safety. Certification or MAPT/MSBO coursework is encouraged, with duties spanning leadership, route optimization, and fleet maintenance.

POSITION: Transportation Director, 12 months with vacation

ANNUAL BASE SALARY: $55,000 to $62,000 depending on experience-qualifications, plus full benefits

EFFECTIVE/START DATE: August 24, 2026 or as negotiated

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• HS Diploma or GED
• Must hold a valid CDL with appropriate endorsements and continuing education coursework.
• Knowledge of current rules and regulations regarding school bus operations and student safety.
• Mechanical background and have the ability to maintain district’s fleet of buses and vehicles.
• Ability to assume responsibility, display initiative, supervise, and act as a team leader.
• Ability to use technology.
• Ability to evaluate and align routes, pick-up and drop-off points in compliance with rule of law

and maximum efficiency and cost savings.

• Two years’ successful experience in school transportation as a driver.
• Responsible for bus drivers training and out of district CDL testing.
• Willingness to drive and check roads during inclement weather.
• Ability to maintain order and discipline with students.
• Ability to process required paperwork.
• Physical ability to perform assigned tasks.
• Visible in the school community.
• Possess Transportation Director Certification or be willing to enroll in a take annual Transportation Supervision Education courses through MAPT/MSBO as required.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
