The Athletic Trainer will work in the physician/provider office; seeing and treating patients as an integral part of the patient care team.

Responsibilities

1. Treatment

• Assist with the treatment plan in collaboration with the treatment team, including initial evaluation, documentation in the electronic medical record, wound care management, and presentation of rehabilitation exercises.
• Instruct patients and families regarding proper utilization and fit of durable medical equipment and casts/splints.
• Communicate daily with physicians/providers and document information appropriately.
• Respond promptly to patient communications.

Professional Development

• Participate in performance improvement programs and initiatives.
• Articulate outcomes and improvements.
• Engage in educational in-services and opportunities to enhance knowledge and competencies.
• Maintain a positive work environment and professional image.
• Complete mandatory education per The Christ Hospital Health Network and meet state requirements.
• Mentor fellow employees and assist in the orientation of new employees and students when assigned.

Productivity/Department Management

• Manage time effectively by utilizing downtime for maintaining supplies and notifying appropriate personnel for equipment maintenance and repair.
• Understand the revenue cycle related to clinical documentation by completing encounter forms accurately and promptly.
• Complete clerical requests for additional information in a timely manner.

Documentation

• Follow department documentation policies.
• Complete documentation promptly and accurately in accordance with guidelines.
• Ensure all patient-related documentation complies with standards and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: BA/BS in Sports Medicine or Athletic Training. Master's Degree preferred.

Licenses & Certifications: Certified athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainer's Association, licensed in Ohio, and CPR certified.
