Job summary

AdventHealth Rothman Orthopedics in Winter Haven, FL, is seeking an Athletic Trainer for a full-time day shift (Mon–Fri, 8am–4:30pm). The role includes obtaining pre-certifications for prescriptions and coordinating discharge plans, with post-operative follow-up using clinical judgment.

You will review charts pre-operatively, discuss post-op instructions with patients and physicians, and arrange necessary home equipment while supporting patient flow throughout the practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Field of study in athletic training and BOC exam score required.
• 2+ years in orthopedics required.
• Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain pre-certification for procedures and medications.
• Make pre-operative calls to discuss discharge plans and gather patient information.
• Make post-operative calls within two weeks to direct care based on information.
• Preview charts pre-operatively and document surgical clearances.
• Discuss post-op instructions with patients and referring physicians.
• Coordinate home equipment and supplies with homecare nurses.
• Assist physicians and staff in maintaining patient flow.
• Perform patient intake and basic examinations.
• E-prescribe and transmit prescriptions per practice protocols.
• Assist during rounds and liaise with outside physicians.
