The Athletic Trainer is a school-wide position, primarily focused on grades 7-12, reporting directly to the Director of Athletics. This role demands a highly collaborative working relationship with other members of the Athletic Training staff, Middle School and High School Athletic Directors, athletic coaches, and division-level principals, Operations Department and Performing Arts Department. The position often requires attendance at weekend and evening practices and games. Also, members of the Athletic Training Staff will be expected to provide adequate athletic training coverage during traditional academic breaks (Thanksgiving, winter and spring) for all on-campus athletic training, practices, and home contests.
As an integral member of the community, the Athletic Trainer is responsible for coordinating Campbell Hall’s overall athletic training (sports medicine program); to include, injury prevention, evaluation, management and treatment of athletic injuries, short and long-term rehabilitation of athletic injuries, education, and counseling of student‑athletes. The Athletic Trainer is responsible for athletic related health care administration and assists in the general health care and well‑being of individuals on campus in consultation with the School Nurse, Health and Safety Committee, and other qualified medical personnel.
Athletic Trainers will be required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and to talk and hear; Sit and be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch; Have specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus; Have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; and possess effective communication, judgmental, planning and human relations skills, and will be required to work under periods of stress due to the level of the position responsibility.
This position will regularly be required to access campus athletic venues and an expansive 17 acre campus and to work outside, year‑round, regardless of weather conditions. The activity level in the work environment can be physically demanding at peak times. The work is characterized by frequent interruptions, stressful situations accompanied by anxious student athletics and parents, vigilant monitoring of athletes, and multi‑tasking. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate, but can be high during certain activities and events.
