Role Description

The Athletic Trainer - Intern is a contract, on-site position based in Columbia, SC, supporting the health and performance of student-athletes. This is a term position (January-June 2027, 25 hours/week). Pay is $27,500 (estimated $42/hour) with an option to continue on an extended contract from June 2027-May 2028.

In this role, the intern AT will work on a team of 2 licensed athletic trainers with injury prevention programs, preparation for practices and competitions, and implementation of rehabilitation exercises under supervision. Daily responsibilities include evaluations of athletic injuries, applying basic taping and bracing techniques, maintaining treatment and injury records, and supporting return-to-play protocols in accordance with established guidelines. The intern collaborates with coaching staff, sports medicine personnel, and strength and conditioning teams to promote student-athlete safety and wellness. The role also involves assisting with equipment organization, set-up and breakdown for practices and events, and contributing to a professional, inclusive environment within the athletics department.
