Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks an Athletic Trainer to support school athletic programs by evaluating injuries, implementing rehab plans and coordinating concussion return-to-play in compliance with state law.

In this role you will maintain athlete medical files, communicate with physicians, coaches, parents and administrators, and assist with facility upkeep and supply monitoring as part of a collaborative sports medicine team.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Current state licensure as a certified Athletic Trainer or eligible, or Temporary Practice Permit
• National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA) certification or Temporary license
• Preferred 1-3 years’ experience
• Experience with concussion base line testing software
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
• Current state driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and manages injuries and determines referral needs.
• Maintains a medical file on each athlete and acts as a liaison between the physician and the athlete or athlete's parent.
• Prepares athletes for practice or competition.
• Acts as a liaison between school administrators, school nurses, guidance counselors, coaches, athletes and parents to appropriately manage, educate and return athletes back to play/activity.
• Coordinates all communication to return athletes with concussions back to play in coordination with the Pennsylvania State Law.
• Implements treatment and rehabilitation programs under the supervision of a physician and guidance of Athletic Trainer II or Senior Staff.
• Cleans Facility: Assists with cleaning the facility each night and putting equipment back in place.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
