Athletic Trainer (High School Game & Practice Coverage)
The Athletic Trainer provides on-site medical coverage for athletic practices and competitions at local high schools throughout Staten Island. This role focuses on the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and management of sports-related injuries while ensuring a safe athletic environment for student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide sideline and on-field medical coverage for games, practices, and special athletic events
- Evaluate acute and chronic athletic injuries and determine appropriate care plans
- Administer first aid, emergency care, and injury management, including concussion assessment and return-to-play protocols
- Implement injury prevention strategies such as taping, bracing, and conditioning recommendations
- Communicate with coaches, school staff, parents, and physicians regarding athlete health and availability
- Maintain accurate injury reports, treatment logs, and medical documentation
- Assist with rehabilitation exercises and monitor athlete progress
- Ensure compliance with state, school, and athletic association safety guidelines
