Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a part-time Athletic Trainer to provide on-site coverage for practices, games, and events. You will evaluate and treat injuries, assist with prevention strategies, and administer rehabilitation under the Head Athletic Trainer's direction.

You will respond to emergencies, communicate with coaches and staff, and maintain accurate records while upholding NCAA rules and institutional policies in a busy collegiate environment.

Qualifications

  • NATABOC certified, NY State licensed or eligible, CPR/AED certified.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Athletic Training or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in higher education or professional sports setting.
  • Ability to lift equipment and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Ability to travel, work evenings, weekends and some holidays as needed.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong computer, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site athletic training coverage for practices, competitions, and events as assigned.
  • Evaluate, treat, and manage athletic injuries in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assist with injury prevention strategies, including taping, bracing, and warm-up oversight.
  • Administer therapeutic modalities and rehabilitation exercises under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide appropriate first aid and acute care.
  • Communicate effectively with coaches, athletes, and athletic training staff regarding injury status and participation.
  • Maintain accurate and timely injury documentation and treatment records.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and safe athletic training environment.
  • Adhere to institutional policies, procedural and governing body regulations.
