Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis, MN seeks a full-time Athletic Trainer Clinical Coordinator for an orthopedic clinic on the University of MN campus. Responsibilities include triage, direct patient care, casting, and coordinating care with physicians, imaging, and therapy teams.

Work schedule is Monday–Friday days with possible Saturday mornings; 7:00 AM–5:30 PM clinic hours and an exempt/salaried role. Eligible for generous benefits and a 5,000 sign-on bonus.

• Athletic Trainer Certification with MN Board of Medical Practice upon hire
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross) upon hire

Responsibilities

• Perform rooming procedures, including taking vitals and detailed medical history.
• Prepare patients and supplies for injections or other interventions and assist with referrals to imaging or therapy services.
• Perform patient assessment including concussion baseline testing and post-injury assessments; educate patients and families on self-care.
• Educate patient and/or family in self-care and home exercise program instruction; communicate follow-up care.
• Apply casting and bracing devices as directed.
• Coordinate staff roles and ensure seamless movement between roles.
• Manage provider schedules to ensure timely access and improve workflows and patient experience.

Fairview is hiring an Athletic Trainer for our busy Orthopedic Clinic! This specialist Clinic team in Minneapolis, MN is located on the University of MN Campus in the Clinic and Surgery Center Building. We provide care for a broad spectrum of bone and joint injuries and are here to treat Complex conditions affecting ankles, feet, hands, shoulders, elbows, and spine, as well as musculoskeletal tumors. Serving Pediatrics to Adults.We are a academic host site.

The AT Clinical Coordinator role is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for safe and effective direct delivery of patient care including triage and coordination of care ranging from patient evaluation, care delivery, assessment, and discharge planning in collaboration with a physician. Care delivery responsibilities include and are not limited to casting, bracing, and instruction in self-care and home exercise programs

Location: Orthopedic Clinic - Fairview Clinic and Surgery Building at 909 Fulton St.S.E (near University of MN), Minneapolis, MN

Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday Day shifts. Possible limited Sat am rotation.

Clinic is open 7 am- 5:30 pm

Athletic Trainer Clinical Coordinator responsibilities

• Perform rooming procedures, including taking vitals, and detailed medical history.
• Prepare patients and supplies for injection or other medical interventions such as x-ray and musculoskeletal ultrasound. Assist in facilitating appropriate referral to medical personnel including X-ray, lab, athletic training, physical therapy, hand therapy, chiropractic, primary care, and specialist physician services.
• Perform patient assessment including concussion baseline testing and post injury assessment. Provide concussion education to patients and family in partnership with provider.
• Educate patient and/or family member in self-care, including home exercise program instruction, as directed by provider. Communicate proper follow-up care to patients, family, and any other medical support personnel in clinic, on the phone and in written form.
• Apply appropriate casting and bracing devices.
• Understand all staff members’ responsibilities so they have the ability to move from one role to another in a seamless manner.
• Manages provider schedules daily by working with scheduling staff to ensure patients timely access and creates access for acute injuries. Identify opportunities to improve workflows by being engaged in change improvement and focused on the work environment and patient experience.

Required Qualifications

• Board of Certification Certified Athletic Trainer upon hire Upon Hire
• Athletic Trainer Cert with the MN Board of Medical Practice Upon Hire
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) Upon Hire

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 years experience as an athletic trainer or combination of athletic training and other healthcare work such as CMA, Nursing Assistant, PT, PTA, LPN
• Membership of the National Athletic Training Association
