Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an Athletic Trainer PRN in the Austin area. The role provides on-site healthcare services to sports medicine programs, focusing on prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries.

PRN schedule and local facility responsibilities support program operations and community care. The position requires licensure as an Athletic Trainer (LAT) and BLS certification, with preference for prior experience in sports medicine.

  • Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prevent, evaluate, treat and rehabilitate injuries under physician direction.
  • Maintain documentation within the scope of the athletic trainer license.
  • Coordinate with physicians, patients and families; communicate rehab restrictions.
  • Support the sports medicine program to ensure efficient operations.
  • Market and educate patients and community about available services.

Job Summary

The Sporty Trainer PRN provides on-site healthcare services to communities served by sports medicine programs. This position is responsible for preventing, evaluating, treating, rehabilitating, and ensuring a return to activity from injury and illness.

Essential Functions Of The Role
  • Practices prevention, recognition, assessment, management, treatment and rehabilitation of recreational injuries and illnesses under the direction of a licensed physician.
  • Maintains accurate documentation when practicing forms of healthcare within the scope of the fit training license.
  • Acts as a liaison between physicians, patient caregivers, and other parties. Maintains effective communication and coordinates any restrictions or accommodations.
  • Assists with the sports medicine program to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  • Helps market the sports medicine program by providing information and education to patients and the community. Promotes services to internal and external customers.
  • Maintains inventory of medical supplies, equipment and marketing goods and requests through proposals, orders and replenishes inventory supplies.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely any information that may influence the patient's treatment or well-being. This includes preparing clinical progress notes and other required documentation according to established policies.
  • Facilitates appointments for sportspeople and families to access healthcare services.

  • Must relate professionally and positively. Work cooperatively with patients, families, and employees at all levels.
  • Ability to promote services and programs.
  • General computer skills include using software applications, data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, handheld scanning, and email.
  • Master's Degree in Sporty Training/Related Field and NATABOC Certification preferred.

  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -

Licensed Sporty Trainer (ATHLTRNR): Athletic Trainer License (LAT) by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).

Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Drivers License (TXDL): If moving from out of state must obtain valid TX DL within 90 days of hire.
