Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Austin, TX seeks an Athletic Trainer to support sports medicine programs. This PRN position focuses on preventing, evaluating, treating, rehabilitating, and returning athletes to activity after injury or illness.

The role requires licensure as an Athletic Trainer with BLS certification; experience preferred. You will collaborate with physicians and care teams, manage documentation, and promote the program within the community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Less than 1 year of experience.
  • Licensed Sporty Trainer (ATHLTRNR): Athletic Trainer License (LAT) by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Driver's License (TXDL): if moving from out of state must obtain valid TX DL within 90 days of hire.
  • Master's Degree in Sporty Training/Related Field and NATABOC Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prevents, evaluates, treats and rehabilitates injuries; returns athletes to activity.
  • Maintains accurate documentation within EMR and charts.
  • Acts as liaison between physicians, patients, caregivers and others; coordinates restrictions or accommodations.
  • Assists with the sports medicine program to ensure efficient operations.
  • Markets sports medicine services to patients and community.
  • Maintains inventory of medical supplies and equipment; processes orders and replenishes.
  • Communicates information affecting patient care; prepares progress notes.
  • Facilitates appointments for athletes and families to access care.

Job Summary

The Sporty Trainer PRN provides on-site healthcare services to communities served by sports medicine programs. This position is responsible for preventing, evaluating, treating, rehabilitating, and ensuring a return to activity from injury and illness.

Essential Functions Of The Role
  • Practices prevention, recognition, assessment, management, treatment and rehabilitation of recreational injuries and illnesses under the direction of a licensed physician.
  • Maintains accurate documentation when practicing forms of healthcare within the scope of the fit training license.
  • Acts as a liaison between physicians, patient caregivers, and other parties. Maintains effective communication and coordinates any restrictions or accommodations.
  • Assists with the sports medicine program to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  • Helps market the sports medicine program by providing information and education to patients and the community. Promotes services to internal and external customers.
  • Maintains inventory of medical supplies, equipment and marketing goods and requests through proposals, orders and replenishes inventory supplies.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely any information that may influence the patient's treatment or well-being. This includes preparing clinical progress notes and other required documentation according to established policies.
  • Facilitates appointments for sportspeople and families to access healthcare services.

  • Master's Degree in Sporty Training/Related Field and NATABOC Certification preferred.
